Our new computers won’t recognize a psd file and won’t save any format properly. No matter what you call it, this message comes up: “File .psd already exists. Do you want to replace it?” or “File .jpg already exists. Do you want to replace it?”

If you answer yes, it will save the psd or jpg the name you called it but it won’t open because the computer recognizes it as a file and not a psd. We can open it by opening a new Photoshop project and selecting Open As. But that doesn’t work when importing that file into Premiere. We did figure out that if you call it: yourpicture (dot) psd it will save it correctly. But I teach high school kids and work arounds don’t work for a class.
Any ideas? We don’t know if it is our new computers or the Windows Server 2008 we just changed to (login privileges might be doing it).
