  • File not found error over network

    Hi list,

I have several iMac workstations connected via gigonet network to a sata raid. Everything works smoothly most of the time. I am able to access projects from any station, save and render to the raid, but occasionally I get an error “file not found” and I am unable to write to the drive and I have to switch to scratch drive to the local machine to continue? Would anyone have any ideas what I could do to remedy the situation?

Many thanks in advance for any thoughts.

    Warmest

    K.

We did something like that for a while. When we had problems, we just shut everything down and started it back up again. It might help if you don’t do anything on the computer that has the RAID on it. Or maybe even loaded OS X Server on it.

Hey Russ, very kind of you to post back with your similar situation. The computer that’s connected to the raid is my main computer so is constantly being used for a myriad of other tasks. I did try the reboot and it fixed it. I had changed the remote networked machines to temporarily save to the desktop and that kept us rolling and now I will manually copy that project file and renders to the central raid and hopefully we’ll be back on track. I hadn’t thought about installing OSX server but I’ll head to my local genious bar and hopefully they can educate me fully on the course.

Again, I really appreciate your sharing your knowlegde.

    Many thanks indeed,

    Kevin
