    Hi
I have a question about file naming. I use premiere to edit the video clips.
Every time I received the footages which contain Cam A and Cam B(Using sony A7s) , both clips starts with C001.mp4, so I would batch Rename them as C001_A.mp4 and C001_B.mp4 to identify them coz if I didn’t change their name, Premiere would mis-match the footage.
But The Xml file are not renamed, so everytime I want to export XML for Davinci, Davinci just can’t recognize the footage. I still not success to use XML to link up the raw footage for Davinci.
At this moment, I just export a clips from Pr then import to Davinci for TC.
Anyone face the same problem and hv a great idea to deal with it? Thanks a lot

We are missing a part of your story.
You batch edit the file names, in which app?
Then ingest in ppro, edit, export an xml. Is ppro not using your renamed clips? If it is, how could it have the wrong file name?
And if ppro is exporting an xml with the old, common, file names no downstream app could logically separate them.

    thanks for your reply
the step is 1. batch rename the clips in Adobe Bridge
    2. import Renamed clip to PrPro for editing
    3. Export the edited sequence to XML from PrPro
    4. Import XML to Davinci and fail to link the raw footage
    Thanks

Did Bridge rename the files at system level? When you look at the file names on the drive have they changed? I suspect Bridge may just be adding a reference name to link to the original file names. The xml has to point to the actual file names. I suspect that may be your problem.

“The xml has to point to the actual file names.” means the file name must same as the XML name? if not the same they would not link up?
I tried relink the file to original name but Davinci still not success to relink the footage.

I try not change anything next time.
    Thank you very much

Does the file name match the clip name in Premiere?

The other potential issue is that Premiere sometimes reads time of day in the file but in Resolve the clips all start at 00:00:00:00 . This is another issue where timecode is different. This happens with cameras like Canon C100 for example. Not sure with the Sony A7 files.

yes the file name match the clip name in Premiere.
I am not sure how to fix the timecode issue.
I am going to convert the footage to another format then try relink all footage on PrPro. Then repeat the step again see if Davinci can link up the file.
    btw thanks for your helpXD

it works, I converted all footage to another format the replaced it on PrPro. then export XML to Davinci, all clip can link up and without any mistake. XD
