This seems like a simple question but I’ve never been able to figure it out.

When I’m trying to save a file,FCP will prompt with the questions “Save as” and “Where”. When I look at the drop down menu on the “Where” window I’m offered all of my drives and “recent places”. My question is, how do I select and locate a specific folder within one of my hard drives to store the file within?

I’m using FCP vers 5.1.2. I have 2 internal drives and an external RAID.

    Thanks for you help.

“I’m offered all of my drives and “recent places”

Once you see all your drives on the save as window, you should just click on the appropriate drive and folder to specify exactly where you want to put the file.

    Hi Alvin,

That’s the problem, when I select the drive it doesn’t open up that drive to allow me to place it in a folder or sub-folder. It just stays with the hard drive name only. What am I missing here?

    Thnx.

Sorry to state the obvious, but you are double-clicking right? If you simply use the finder, can you open and see folders within your various drives? If so, try trashing FCP prefs and repairing permissions. If not, your OS might be corrupt (but try repairing permissions before doing anything radical). Also, it never hurts to run Disk Warrior.
