  • File issues when exporting from PP to YT

    Hi,

I’ve been editing video files shot on my canon dslr and exporting them as .flv files then uploading to YouTube with fantastic results. Full HD 1080 option becomes available. Now, for some reason, I have done the same for another video. The video is created and when YouTube completes its upload i get this screen

Now, it seems fine but look at the small print “Failed, unable to convert file type”. I don’t understand why it’s doing this? I have re-exported many times, exported as a .mov then converted that to .flv, tried multiple times to upload with the same results…

The video itself has fast cuts but, all shot on the same day, same camera.. i just don’t understand?

Can someone please help with narrowing down what I may be doing wrong-or if you’ve had a similar occurance?

    Thank you

I’ve posted many a video on YouTube without any failed messaging. However I am.yonder the H.264 codec and the .MP4 file type for upload and not flv.

    Try that instead. 🙂

Thanks Jon, i took a look at your YT channel looks great particularly this video: https://youtu.be/g6jiVpRsn4E

What were your export settings to get such beautiful results?

Also, when I edit dslr videos I simply import the raw video file from my canon dslr into premiere pro- is this acceptable behaviour for PP 5.5?

Thank you again for your help

All I am doing is adding the Canon Files into the Project and dropping them into a sequence for them. You can right click on a clip in the project panel and select ”New sequence from Clip” and you will have a sequence with the same properties as the clip and the Canon DSLR have presets that it uses which works great.

At export I am using the Presets under Format: H.264, Preset: HDTV 720p 25 High Quality, Essentially whichever preset matches the properties of the sequence I am editing, so 720 or 1080 the presets are already there.

PS: You can always tweak any area of the settings and save your own custom preset that will sit on the top of the list for future use.

    Hi Jon,

I edited with your settings and all was okay until, I played back. The footage stutters along and isn’t smooth. Now, I inspected the timeline and found what may be the culprit. There’s a 30 second clip in there shot on a different camera- with different settings. Could this be causing the trouble? Is there a way to edit using multiple file formats,

Thank you again for your help
