File I/O Open Export Error

I haven’t seen this error. To track it down, let’s start with the following:

a) Premiere Pro version #?
b) Project settings?
c) Media source/properties?
d) Did you purchased a boxed or a download version of Premiere Pro?

Here’s all the info, hope I haven’t neglected anything:

Premiere Pro 2, (boxed version).
project settings:
editing mode: DVNTSC
timebase: 29.97 frame
video frame size: 720 x 480 4:3
pixel aspect ratio: D1/DV NTSC 0.9
fields: (lower fields first)
display frames: 30 fps drop frame timecode
audio sample rate: 48,000 hz

Media source is a combination of avi and bmp files.

My client needs me create Quicktime files. As I mentioned, when I choose the default settings for Quicktime export, no error message. Same thing goes when I want to create Flash files or WMV files. Its when I change a setting on ANYTHING that I get:

PRESET File I/O open error

Going back to the quicktime example, the “default” settings are as follows:

Range: Entire Sequence
Preset: QT 256 Streaming NTCS
Video Codec: Sorenson Video 3
Spatial Quality: 100
Frame Width: 160
Frame Height: 120
Frame rate: (fps) Custom 15,000
Field Order: None (progressive)
Square Pixel 1.0
24 bit color

That works, no error message…it’s when I change the frame width and depth to:

720 x 480 (which, of course, automatically changes the preset to “custom”)

That will give me the error message. Same thing goes if I deviate from the norm by one iota to create a Flash file, lets say I change the default frame width from 648 to 647, bingo, error message. Even if I try to reset things…by bringing it back to 648, and returning the Preset to its original, (default) FLV8 NTSC 400k setting, and click “OK” I get that Preset error message. I have to “X” out of the window, then hit File>Export>Adobe Media Encoder again. Talk about frustrating. I’ve been getting away with using the Flash default settings for all my regular work , but now I have a freelance project all ready to Export to specific Quicktime screen dimensions, and I can’t do it. Can you figure
this out? I’d really appreciate it.

I am having this same error problem and hoped that a solution was found that I might be able to get from someone. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know!

Just reinstalled my Preiere ProCS3 3rd time:) as I have a simmilar problem,
I am unable to use Adobe’s Media ENcoder or Adobe Clib Notes as and I/O Open Esport Error massage pops out.

Did you managed to find a solution to your probelm ?

Sadly I haven’t received any solutions to this problem. Oddly enough it just stopped doing it and I wasn’t able to determine exactly what caused it. One thing that might help is clearing any extra sequences from your project and saving your project under a seperate name. Then reboot and try your export again. Hope that helps!

Anyone come up with a solution to this problem? We’re working with Premiere CS4 and bouncing the video out via adobe media encoder. I changed some settings from the presets (Windows Media), and it throws the error every time.

Sequence/Footage: DV-NTSC Widescreen
It’s a very basic edit with some graphics made in AFX. Shouldn’t be causing a problem!

Other than the answers listed above, you can import your Premiere timeline into After Effects and render it through there. Thankfully you can import the timeline “as is” into Premiere in CS4 and not have it try to turn your timeline into an AE project. Sadly, I’ve had to resort to that a few times because of Media Encoder fails. Hope that helps and good luck!

Same problem here. Using the CS3 production package the error report pops up every time. I’ve been using it for some time now, but only recenlty this problem appeared.

Does it have anything to do with BIOS settings perhaps or the fact that I’m working with XP 64-bits?

Hi there,

as I had the same problem (I/O error) with the latest CS5 premiere/media encoder I encountered my virusscanner as the origin to the problem.
So deactivate your virusscanner (in my case Kaspersky Internet Security 2011) and see if it helps.

In my case it did. Everything worked fine.
Next step is to tell your viruscanner to perform no checks on the programs like media encoder.

CS3 production package was not designed to work with Win XP 64-bits. It runs on Win XP Pro 32bit. However, this is not the reason why you get File I/O Open Export Error.

I have the same problem. My cure will be New work station and latest adobe cloud packages.
