A little more information about my problem:
I am working on an FCP film project. This film has numerous “24” style split screens. I experiment with different sequences before commiting to the final version, hence the large size of the files. The 75.1 mb is an earlier version of the 55.7 mb file. Last night I began to streamline the larger file. I deleted older sequences I didn’t need and resaved it as the 55.7.
I have one clip that requires a sound effect of an explosion. Last week I downloaded an explosion from the web. Yesterday I went to play the clip with the explosion and received the folloiwng message:
“The movie file “Orig_000dfsdf.IETemp” cannot be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly.”
Today, I re-downloaded the sound effect, imported it into FCP. Dropped it into the sequence then exported to tape and recaptured the effect, trying to avoid losing the effect again. I successfully recaptured and now have the effect.
This was performed in the larger file. I wanted to transfer the sequence to the smaller file. When I went to open the smaller file I began receiving the “File Error: Wrong Type”.
I tried two tests – I first opened the 75.1 file then opened the 55.7 file and received the “File Error: Wrong Type”. I cloed both files. I then opened the 55.7 file then the 75.1 mb file second and once again received the “File Error: Wrong Type”.
I have now deleted any references to the original SFX from the files.
I tried another test… I closed all files and tried to open only the 55.7 mb file. It is no longer opening and I continue to receive the “File Error: Wrong Type” message. I waited a few minutes then relaunched the problem file and it finally opened.
I did perform some split screen rendering last night on the newer 55.7 mb file.
I would greatly appreciate any advice anyone has to offer.
Thanks
Howie
