  File Error: Unknown file. (Fraps file)

  I’ve been using Fraps to record the screen in Windows 7 then I usually just drop it into FCP7 no problems as long as Perian 1.2.3 is installed.

  However lately I get this error message whenever I try to drop a fraps file into FCP “File Error: Unknown file.”

  This has never happened before. I thought it might have something to do with Flip4Mac so I uninstalled that but same problem. I tried installing an earlier version of Perian like version 1.2.1 as some people have mentioned but that still didn’t work.

  I haven’t edited in a while but I do remember it working and have seen tutorials of people using this same workflow. Yes I could convert everything to ProRes first but it still bugs me as to why this happens. And lately when I do convert a Fraps file to ProRes I get some glitching, but that’s another post…
