I have FCP HD, with a Mac G5. I have a current project which I put on my Mac hard drive via Media Manager from an external hard drive. Whenever I go to Save Project, I get File Error: Unknown file. Same thing with Save Project As. Trying to ‘force’ a save by quitting FCP or shutting down doesn’t work. I get the same File Error, and the ‘quit’ or shut down is aborted. Basically I have a project I can’t Save (and therefore won’t autosave). What did I do?… what CAN I do to save my project (and work)? Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

I have seen something like this before, and I cannot remember exactly what I did.

But try things like saving to another drive.
Or, copy all your clips and sequences and such into another project inside the browser window. Create a new project file, drag it’s tab off the browser window so that it becomes its own browser window, then drag all your assets from the old project to the new one. Then try and save the new project.

That’s all I can remember trying.

    Good luck.
