File Error, Quicktime doesn’t recognize, directory/resource issue?
I’m running into a problem when capturing footage and I don’t know if it’s with my external hard drive (LaCie 250G), Final Cut, or something else. This has happened a couple of times when I “capture now” an hours worth of footage. When it gets to the end of the tape, the capture freezes, I can’t ESC, I try to open my capture scratch folder and get the spinning ball, I can’t force quite Final Cut Pro HD even, and my drive shows that nearly 90Gigs have been eaten up! I end up powering down my computer and restarting.
Upon restart I have gained back 57 Gigs of that space on the drive, I can see the capture, however Final Cut cannot import them into the project stating “File Error: 25 unrecognized, 0 access denied, 25 unknown.” Quicktime states that it is “not a file that Quicktime understands.” I re-indexed, checked the permissions, and run a disk utility. I’m recapturing the footage now, but what’s going on here?
Thanks in advance for the help!
