File Error: Cannot Save
Can anyone help me? I have a really large project in my FCP and every time I try to save it I get “file error: unknown file.” How do I save my work?

I think I remember seeing that on FCP 5.0.3 when receiving a project from another computer.
If I remember correctly we would do a Save Project As to another drive, that did the trick for us.
Also make sure there is plenty of space available on your Capture Scratch Drive.
Also check to see if FCP is automatically saving your projects to the Autosave Vault.System>Users>Documents>Final Cut Pro Documents>Autosave Vault.
look for your projects name and open the folder. depending on how often you have autosave set in Final Cut you should see some files from today in there. Open the newest one if possible.
