    Hello,

I’m using FCP 5.0.1. When I try to open a project I saved on an external drive I am getting the message ‘File Error: Access Denied’.

I am trying to open the file while logged on as a different user to the one I used when I created the file.

This is because for some reason I cannot open FCP as the original user.

I have tried trashing the preferences and repairing permissions but it makes no difference, either to being able to access the file, or to being able to log on to FCP as the original user.

It must be something simple, something in my account settings???? any suggestions???

    Please and thank you…

    Joe

Have you tried checking the permissions by doing a ‘get info’ on the file? Highlight the file then cmd+I. At the bottom is the permissions. It’s probably read only for your current user. If so, change it to read & write. You’ll need the admin password.

Thanks, I hadn’t tried that but it was already on ‘read and write’ so it’s not making any difference…

Try checking “Ignore ownership on this volume”.
