    Gary,

I realize that this is an option, but I have had problems in the past with text overlays and still frames in FCP 5 when I have the sequence set to anything but none.

Also, because we are rendering None (progressive) from After effects, won’t that still be looked at incorrectly by fcp. Even though it seeing the render as lower, its really progressive.

    Any advice…

Yes, you can very easily change parameters of multiple clips in the Browser. Tip – drag the Field Dominance column all the way to the left so it’s easy to access, then select the AE files and right-click in the Field Dominance column to set all the clips to “None”. You should be doing this before editing them into a sequence.

That’s wrong. It’s the other way around for uncompressed standard definition. PAL upper, NTSC lower. For DV both NTSC and PAL are lower.

    All the best,

That FC can not recognize the proper field order on importing is nothing new.
Solution: Have a look to the Browser whenever you import anything.
    As per the field order:
    – DV (DV25/50) is always Lower in PAL and NTSC.
    – 8/10b Uncompress and Prores is Lower for NTSC and Upper for PAL.
Those are acquisition codecs. Intermediate codecs (like Animation) are up to the need of the user.

PS: Thanks God all the HD interlaced formats are Upper.

    What codec are you using?
