Here’s the deal. I need to wipe from one title to another either directly or immediately following leaving both the lower 1/3 graphic and the background.

When I use the edge wipe applied to the title (Boris 3D) it all looks like it’s going to be just fine then during playback the title shifts down a skosch the wipe happens then shifts back to the original position.

Has anyone else experienced this and is there a work around?

You’re probably on the wrong scan line with your title.

if you’re in an SD NTSC Interlaced timeline, all your titles need to be on an even scan line.

If you in an SD HD NTSC interlaced timeline, all your titles need to be on an odd scan line.

If you’re on the wrong scan line you can see some shifting during effects.

Sounds simple, but how do you know and how can you change it — reposition through the motion tab?

    In the motion tab, yes.

    Have a wonderful day.

Typically yes, you would reposition through the Motion Tab, but in the case of Title 3D you do it in the Title 3D controls to maintain vector type quality.

In the regular Motion Tab, set Center to 0, 0

In the Title 3D Controls, change the Center settings here and make sure second number (vertical position) is an even number.

Interesting. So Ok now I’ve also made sure my lower 1/3 background is an even number it is all hokey dokey. Thanks so much.

While I’ve got you…is there any way to lock in Title 3D position. In other words it always wants to center things. There are some times when I want to do a build and would like it if I didn’t have to leave phantom spaces in the lower lines to keep it from automatically re-centering.

What I do is get my first lower third set to where I want it, then copy and paste that clip over all the other lower thirds, open each in Title 3D and re-type. You still have to type in a new X coordinate, but this is really accurate and saves a lot of time. I don’t think there’s any other way around it.

    Have a wonderful day.

Copy the first Title and Paste it into the timeline.

    Now modify the duplicate.

Thanks guys, but that’s not my current question. I, too, duplicate and modify for lower 1/3s.

The bigger mystery to me is if there is a way – for lack of a better way to describe it – upper and left justify a page. In every titling tool I’ve used to build bullets you build the whole page and then remove the bottom line for each previous title.

    Header Header Header
    – Point 1 – Point 1 – Point 1
    – Point 2 – Point 2
    – Point 3

It bugs the crap out of me that title 3d ALWAYS centers the page so that you have to leave a ‘space’ on the line you erased so the whole title won’t recenter. It ends up looking like this:

    Header
    – Point 1 Header
    – Point 2 – Point 1
    – Point 3

I guess what I’m saying is that I’d like to tell it where the first line starts and build down from there, but it seems like you only have control over where the location of the CENTER of the page.

    John,

I don’t think it will do what you want. But it does have a center tool which you can click on the canvas and get close to where you want to be.

    Have a wonderful day.
