    Hi everyone

I’ve recently been asked to make a couple of short video insets for a tiny little late night TV show here in the UK. The show want the videos to play out through a Clarity on-air graphics box.

Now I don’t think that this is anything my end but just to be sure……
The pieces were shot in DV-Pal and have been captured as such and placed in a DV-PAL timeline, lower field first etc and playout fine on the suites broadcast monitor. The piece is edited and exported at current settings and not using a quicktime conversion or anything.

They are then taken to the studio and re-encoded onto the Clarity box. Once they are on the box and are playing out on the TV the field orders are clearly the wrong way round and the image is ‘strobing’ all over the place. There don’t appear to be any options for field dominace in the encoding process for Clarity apart from a check box to interlace progressive footage….. However It appears to be playing the stings at the beginnig and end of the DV-Footage fine. These stings were in the animation codec when they were inserted into the FCP timeline. Clarity has imported things in Animation absolutely fine in the past but now seems to be struggling with this DV footage.

I know this isn’t exactly an FCP question but any ideas??

    Cheers folks
