  • field order jitter when using mpeg clips

    Hi all,

I have a recurring strange problem.

i film 50i on FX1, edit in HDV 501 and export Mpeg 1080i.

Then when I’m finished and I have say 3 or 4 MPEGS i reimport them into another HDV 1080i timeline and edit using those files as source clips.

now on the resulting exported clip (1080i mpeg again) certain clips that have been cut from for example 1.mpg jitter as if the field order is all wrong. HOWEVER other bits that have been cut from 1.mpg are fine… The only thing I can do is deinterlace the affected snippets of 1.mpg. The resulting mpeg then looks fine but the affected segments do still look slightly choppy (i suppose thats the progressive look) but no where near as bad as they would be if I do not deinterlace.

I hope that all makes sense… the problem is I now have to watch the full video that ive exported to check that there are no unexplainable jitters.
