  • Field Order in AE for FCP

I have been using AE for 8 years so I feel like I should know the answer to this question, but here goes. I am trying to render a TYPE animation out of AE CS4 in a NON-Field order or progressive. In my Render Settings and Output Module it is set to field order OFF. I have the frame rate set to 29.97, but I have also tried 30fps.

What happens is when I export using QT, Animation Codec with Unmatted Alpha ( I have also tried straight), when I go to import it into FCP timeline, it looks jagged. When I look into the item properties in FCP it says that it is lower field first. When I start a new sequence and drag it on, I get a “clip does not match sequence” error and it changes it to lower field in the sequence settings and it looks great. When I just watch the .mov, the type looks perfect. I have tried exporting it from AE like a hundred times now with different settings, but I always get it in lower field first.

What am I doing wrong? THANKS in advance for your help.

Ridiculous! That worked man, THANKS. I kept seeing that in FCP, its how I knew it was being interpreted as lower field, but I had no idea you could change it. That fixed everything. THANKS again!
