Field order and recompression
I’m editing an amateur footage, the source files are MPEG2 UFF 9100 constant bitrate. The quality is quite poor so I shun recompression for it will deteriorate it even more.
Now that I have the sequence I set Mainconcept to 9100 constant bitrate and I eventually get “No recompression required” during render. However, the final output jerks at the places where there are fades, x-fades or other edits. Perhaps it is the codec of the source files that is somehow incompatible with Vegas. Can something be done about it or the only route to go is to recompress it?
And one more thing, will a hardware DVD player read PAL 4:3 UFF okay or I need to change the field order to LFF (which is the standard AFAIR)? And is there any theoretical difference to recompress the footage WITHOUT changing the field order or WITH it?
