December 15, 2008 at 7:11 pmI think it had to do with the format as well. For instance, I have never seen FCp or QT or anything interpret a 720p movie as interlaced, no matter what codec it is.

Meaning it shows you 640×480 instead of 720×486? Please explain.

December 16, 2008 at 2:02 am720i50 is a standard that I really miss.If I could, I would shot in that format with the EX-1.

I don’t get it.

December 17, 2008 at 1:33 amThe encoding in 720 is more efficient than in 1080 for obvious reasons but if you shot 720p50 you loose this advantage because you have to discharge half of the information when going to “i50”.
In the other hand I’m unable to run fxPlugins at 10b in 1080 because is too much for the GPU of my MBP.
With 720 at 10b, no problems.

December 17, 2008 at 2:02 amGot ya. But making 50i movies (in either 1080i or 625/525i) is very easy and yields very high quality results when shooting 720p50.
I can understand if you want to shoot interlace. I like shooting and posting in progressive as it makes dealing with all of todays formats and deliverables that involve progressive displays very easy, or easier I should say.

But I’m still living in an Interlaced world:-)
I guess that 720p50 must be great when played as p50. Going to i50 means to waist the half of the information. And to make slow-mow the overcranked footage gives you double data rate than the p50 slowed down.
