I have doing a project on Avid, mostly still images. I did a test output to a DVD to check the quality of the audio and picture. While playing back the sequence on Avid, there are no flashes. When playing the DVD back on a commercial DVD deck, there are field flashes between almost every cut. What am I doing wrong?

Are you compressing your output to fields? Are your field orders correct? Also, what resolution are you working at in Avid? If you export a standard def NTSC 720×486 quicktime and compress it to 720×480 and set your compression program up to crop it right (4 off top, 2 off bottom), it may be reversing the field order (3 off top, 3 off bottom).

As of yet, the bug that creates interlacing issues in precomutes when exporting reference fiels has not been addressed by Avid so you will have to do a video mixdown before exporting the QT reference to your DVD app.

My project is 720×480. I export to DVDit 6 as a quicktime movie. My settings are: field order:even, QT movie 720×480, native dimensions: 720×480, compression:animation
    Is this not correct?
