    Gents (and Ladies),

Perhaps you can help me with this quagmire.

I recently shot a film on 35mm and transferred it to Beta SP. I then dubbed the Beta tapes to DVCAM, retaining timecode.

I am editing my project in FCP5 and plan to go back to film. Accordingly, I ran the reverse telecine process through cinema tools.

Problem is, I am getting a lot of interfield flicker. When I output a final cut movie and then burn to DVD, the results of the reverse telecine are undone (there are repeat key code frames and it appears to be field 1 dominant).

I feel as if I have done a big no-no. When I load the clips into Cinema tools, it looks as though they are field 2 (odd) dominant. But I suspect this is not the case.

Can anyone tell me whether or not dubbing from Beta SP to DVCAM is the problem? Would it be better to simply import my Beta SP tapes into FCP and then run them through cinema tools?

    Thanks! This is incredibly confusing.

Could be to do with Beta SP and all other PAL except DV CAM is Upper Field dominant. DV CAM is lower field dominant (who invented that one? As if there aren’t enough incompatibility issues already).
Nattress has a plug in that fixes this.
