I would be gratefull if someone could share his experience using an inverter to supply 110 Volts power from a 12 Volts car cigarette lighter to the built-in HV30 battery charger

If you are talking about using a inverter to power the Canon AC/DC adapter that plugs into the camcorder to charge the battery, I’ve done that with a HV20.

I also have powered my HV30 several times by the same method and the last time I have done that,it has turned out that after the camcorder had been feeded continously for 3 hours I am now experiencing misfunctionning. I believe that the camcorder software has been damaged.

    Hi Phillip:
I’ve never had a problem using an inverter to power a cam through its external power supply, the external supplies are usually pretty well regualated as they have a wide ac voltage range on their input.

Well, here is something to consider when using 12V inverters:

The inverters generate noise that can cause some devices to malfunction or even be damaged. Is always good to use quality inverters. Will mention some if someone is interested on this article.

    Thanks, Maceo

You want to use ones that are certified for electronics use, sine wave or modified sine output
