Activity Forums Adobe Premiere Pro Feedback

    Hey guys.

I’m finally learning Premiere Pro and After Effects. Always got new movie ideas, brain never shuts up – thought I might as well start making some trailers. This is my third trailer and for this one I learned text motion graphics, rapid transitions, color correction, upscaling, splitting song/instrumental.

Would love to get your feedback. What is good and what is bad? What would you have done differently? I feel sound quality could be better, not sure how to “upscale” old sound in a good way.

Trailer is about Airwolf for those of you who remember that series from 1986. Upscaled and with 2024 music.

Would appreciate your thoughts, high and low. Thanks. /Mart

    Hey Martin,

That is a good try, but there is a few ideas that you might want to consider:

    1) I’m not a great fan of vertical video, not least as in the instance the helicopter is a better placed filling out a 16:9 screen 😉

    2) Yes, it is a modern take, but what’s the story, and who are the characters? You might want to speed up the intro a bit?

    3) Where’s the love? Who and why is airwolf doing this? And why should we be interested in that helicopter?

    4) The sound is clean, too clean – would like to hear some more atmos, maybe a few sound effects like whooshes, pings and explosions + all the other stuff.

    5) Music Is OK, but what is the connection to the violin?

Keep it up and you’ll keep getting better! If you’re not already using it, the Premiere Pro transcribe will help you get faster to sound-bites that you are looking for.

    Thank you for sharing.

    Thanks Mads.

Okay got your points. I will probably move over to 16:9 soon + improve the actual story behind the trailer.

I guess this was more of a showreel than a trailer. I agree wider formats are nicer!

The violin is “malplaced” by intention to create a contrast between new and old. Could probably do a better job in showing that contrast 🙂

OK too clean sound, interesting. Will focus more on the sound in the next one.

From a pure technical/editing point of view I take it you think it’s OK?

Thinking about the transitions, color correction, image quality, lightning/thunder FX effect, and those editing things.

    Hey Martin,

I have no issue with the technical quality, although I did not put it through my scopes.

Rather than reworking the same trailer, how about taking a TV series or a Movie that you like?
Tell the interesting highlights of the story in 2 minuttes, without giving the plot away.
That is the art of editing a trailer.

Maybe get the camera out (even a mobile camera) and shoot a your own advert – add all the fun stuff, and you could be editing commercials.

Many of the best people in the industry that I’ve enountered, spent a year in their bedroom or garage doing this, before emerging to be amongst the best in their class.

Keep doing the same, better, won’t neccessearily make you better.
But doing the same, better, but with different footage will make you better as you get challenged.

Whatever you chose, just keep doing it.

Yes, sounds like great advice. I can tell you have been in the game for a while. Interesting to hear your story about spending time in the garage can take you to the top 🙂

I’m glad the technical aspects were OK.

I will move on to new material and come back to Airwolf later. There is no shortage of ideas. One sunny day might even use footage I filmed myself, or a combination.

    Thanks again for the insights.
