I wish they weren’t so vague on what it does….

    Thanks for sending this.

Yeah. It’s pretty vapid…. I’m not downloading it.

Probably requires 7.4 QT to be installed which wreaks havoc on, well, everything incl FCP and AE.

[Bret Williams] “Probably requires 7.4 QT to be installed which wreaks havoc on, well, everything incl FCP and AE.”

For some and not others. Some folks have written to me and QT 7.4 is causing only minor issues with some features of FCP. Nothing to cause them any big deal. Of course we have a LOT of folks on these forums who do have issues.

Has AE 8.0.2 solved the 7.4 issues with that application?

I downloaded the Pro update, but there is no read-me included so I did not install it anywhere yet. I’m actually setting up a new Leopard drive in my Mac Pro so I can fully test out Leopard with QT 7.4, AE and FCP without affecting the edit system at all. I’ll be able to edit all day with Tiger, then switch over to the Leopard drive when I have some time to test.

    I’ll be THAT guy…

I installed it and I’m having no problems. I didn’t install QT 7.4, just the ProKit update. I’m also staying away from iTunes 7.6 as I believe it requires QT 7.4.

I definitely agree that there should have been more information about this update than “install this if you run ANY Apple pro app.” It’s like they designed the sentence to scare off the people the update was meant for.

I second (third?) that. I believe we should implore Apple with ‘feedback’ stating that we, their loyal subjects, require at the very least a READ ME.txt file included with any update stating specifically what the update does, any known issues etc.

    It’s 2008, for frack sake.
