Feature Request: Keypad..
Posted by Christopher Adams on September 2, 2011 at 2:21 pmI would love to see the keyboard number pad or even an external number pad be used for transport. Jumping to shot #s or timecode.
If i am sitting on show 24 and want to go to shot 226 id love to be able to type in 226 and have it go to that shot. Similar to the way the Main Davinci panel does.
This seems like something I would suspect would have been in there by default!

September 2, 2011 at 5:10 pmI agree with the original poster in that it seems like a rather silly thing to cripple simply to sell $30K control panels.

September 3, 2011 at 3:17 pmYes that sorta was my point. The advantage of the BMD panel is that it was made for Davinci Resolve. Buttons were put in logical places and any feature is almost 1 or 2 button presses away. We shouldn’t have crippled features to sell those. Their benefit is pretty easily justified in the time savings if you are grading a ton of feature work all the time. That I am not disputing and they do sell themselves. For us with a wave or euphonix this is much more of an issue. If BMD is selling free versions now and gearing for both the pro and semi pro markets then I don’t’ think jump to shot # shortcuts on the keyboard is an out of place request.
Just my 0.02

September 6, 2011 at 11:45 pmFor $15, you can use controllermate to remap the number keys on your keyboard:

September 7, 2011 at 10:12 pmRemapping isn’t the issue, the issue is that numerical entry for cueing is not exposed in Resolve unless you have the DaVinci control panels. I don’t have any idea what control strings are being sent from the DV keypad, but it is not documented, so it is currently unavailable. Silly, but true.

September 7, 2011 at 10:37 pmAh! For some reason I had the notion that the regular keyboard number keys would allow you to jump to the shot number. My bad 😉
