I find that if I set my Kona LHe Plus to 720p59;94 and then enter a FCX project that is 720p23.98, it plays with a halting stutter. If I exit FCX and switch the Kona LHe Plus to any 1080 format, it looks OK. It ain’t supposed to work that way, is it? Am I missing something here?

In FCP X the KONA or Decklink card settings must match the project. X doesn’t add pulldown like FCP 7 did. You might check if there is a cross-conversion setting that works.

When I use1080psf23.98 it plays fine. So the Kona is taking the 720p23.98 and cross converting to 1080psf23.98 for me. It also works if the Kona is set to 1080i though. So the Kona is adding pulldown, I assume, to get to 1080i. Why can’t it do that to get to 720p59.94? As long as it works, I don’t really care. It’s just unintuitive to set the Kona to 1080 when the project is actually 720.

That freaked me out the first time. Someone here suggested using 1080psf23.98 and that’s been working fine with no issues. The above explanation makes sense.
