[Andrew Kimery] “You could always just not respond Walter. ;)”

Has anyone ever noticed that when ever an “Apple rumour” post is made here the same people chime in and discredit it? Many of those people have their picture at the top of the FCP forum….

Well maybe, just maybe these folk DO know whats going on and when people post close to the mark the best form of defence is attack.
Why do I say these things? Well because that’s what I use to do when I was on a beta team and that’s what we were asked to do. Yep… so y’all make your own minds up eh!

    I WISH!

Nah, I find that spreading rumors is counter productive. Gets people all wildly speculating and then HUGELY disappointed when said feature(s) don’t materialize. “Final Cut EXTREME!” Uhm…no. Or someone will cry out “I thought they PROMISED native support for H.264 from my Canon Mk5! It isn’t there. DARN APPLE!” and there was no planned support from the start. It was some guy who said “Hey, I heard that there will be native support for H.264 in the next version.”

All it does is make people angry when said features aren’t there…and less enthusiastic about the features that ARE included. “Oh, yeah, sure, there is XXXX feature, but I heard that we were going to have YYYY feature. This is a BOGUS release.”

Nope, couldn’t be further from the truth. I haven’t been in any sort of an Apple beta program for a long time. I wouldn’t do it anyway. If the software is that buggy when it comes out, imagine what it’s like running it in the beta program.

I can tell you the last time I heard, there were approx. 10 people outside of Apple who were beta testers for Studio. And you wonder why it’s so buggy when it comes out?

I do still test a bunch of stuff, but nothing from Apple.

well heck, if we’re gonna have a rumors forum then lets have a conspiracy theories forum too 😉

This latest rumor sounds like it was written using a template of the FCS-2 release. Whoever wrote it could have at least made it interesting. But then again, perhaps that was the intended effect. Make the coming FCP update sound like yesterday’s news.

I’ve seen the rumor mill used in a rather cut-throat way by competitors in the broadcast business. Stuff will get floated around just to cause FUD.

[walter biscardi] “So Ben, you go ahead and order all your new gear and get ready for FCS 3 based on this rumor. I’ll just keep working and when Apple does get around to announcing the new software, I’ll make may plans accordingly.”

    Sigh.

Of course – I always do make purchase decisions based on rumours.

    Some other interesting comments here.

Why don’t you just ignore this, Walter? I’m sure you’ve got something better to do with your time, right?

Hilariously, I was also asked to speak there (by a vendor). Unfortunately, I’m working, so you’ll just have to make do with Walter Murch 🙂

Now I’ve pulled out, I suspect the whole FCS3 release will be delayed.

    Ciao!
