We shot with two HDV cameras, unfortunately one PAL, one NTSC.

The audio (recorded seperately both in 29.97 and ‘free running back up) syncs perfectly with the NTSC, but drifts slowly out of sync with the video, so by the end of a long take, say 3 minutes, you end up with a lovely echo effect.

I’ve tried creating just PAL sequences, changing the capture settings (I’m using an NTSC camera for all capture, but seems to be able to read and output the PAL tapes fine) I know people have had to deal with issues like this before, but any suggestions? Thanks

If you are using an NTSC camara to capture PAL footage I think that you can get in this kind of problems. NTSc camaras can play PAL, and PAL camaras can play NTSC but what you are getting is not an standar video signal at all.
I would try to capture the PAL footage with a PAL camara, and if the sync issues remain with the audio back-up, export the audio back-up as an .aiff (or other PCM) and get rid of the TC in the audio file. Them sybc the PAL clip with the .aiff
    Cheers,
