Thanks, I’m happy for you. Wish mine worked.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

If the cursor does not change, and you cant move the text, you are probably using Lion, 10.7

Let me know if you find a way around the problem 🙁

oh no….don’t tell me Apple’s new 64 bit professional video editor doesn’t work with Apple’s new 64 bit operating system.

maybe I should click this ad that says switch to Adobe from FinalCut and get 50% off……. i have been having quite a lot of crashes and i’ve been unable to import footage from my DV cam now. but, that’s a new thread.

I found that on my older MacBook Pro dragging doesn’t work although it works on my Mac Pro. What are your system specs? When you mouse over the text puck the text insertion tool should change to an arrow. On my MBP it doesn’t so I can’t drag. It might be because my system is on the lower end of acceptable specs for FCP X or I may need to re-install or trash prefs. I’m going to give those a try. You might try that as well. Regardless of what the published minimum requirements are for FCP X from my experience you lose a lot of functionality on a “lower end” system. I know this doesn’t really help but maybe it will point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the ideas. I’m running a 64 bit 27″ iMac i5 w/ 8GB ram. there’s really no reason that it shouldn’t work. the only thing I can figure out is that I’m running Lion. I’m going to try installing FCPx on my Snow Leopard drive and see if that is any different.

    Seriously?
this has been driving me mad for a while now.
So with OS X LION and FCPX I can’t drag my text around without cropping it?
I find this all a little hard to believe. I guess titles in Motion and/or after effects then.
    lunacy.

I’m having the exact same problem.
    Check out my screen shot.

I can’t move the text, and it is being cut off!

Because of the number of glitches I found like this one where features don’t function, as well as frequent crashes, Apple is refunding my money. I am currently demoing Adobe Premiere and Avid Media Composer. I like Adobe, being very very similar to FCP, but being a ProTools user I am leaning towards Avid.

If anyone has any input I’d love to consider it.

Click the “done” button at the top right, then double click the text in the viewer as if you were going to edit it.

You are trying to transform the whole layer there, not just the text.

Actually wait, what preset are you using there?
