  • FCPX still does not recognize the DNxHR codec file

After installing the latest version (2.7.3) AvidCodecsLE.pkg, FCPX still does not recognize the DNxHR codec file. QT Player when trying to open the file immediately converts it to H264. Interestingly, Apple Compressor and Resolve correctly opens the file. Where is the problem?

FCPX doesn’t support DNxHR. It supports DNxHD, but not HR. Submit a feature request to Apple asking them to implement support for HR. Or tell them to open up ProRes encoding on PCs. ☺ I’d be happy with either.

If I get DNxHR I have to run it through compressor or Resolve or Media Encoder to re-encode it to ProRes, so I can use it in FCPX. It’s a huge nuisance and Apple really needs to fix it.
