With fcp 7 the best workflow was to re-render out the footage you were actually using in your cut and then use smooth cam other wise it would analyze the whole clip in the bin.

Is this the same in fcpx?

Does fcpx analyze the whole clip or just what I’m using in my timeline when I click stabilize in the inspector window?

I know it analyzes the whole clip if I select analyze on import, that’s why I don’t use it. Why would I want to analyze the whole clip unless I have too, which is why I’m asking.

Sorry if this has been covered, couldn’t find info on this anywhere.

    Thanks
    Jason

Turning on stabilize in the inspector only analyzes the portion in use in the timeline.

Rock on! Didn’t realize this and spent a while stabilizing the entire clip (time waster!) Thanks for this.
