FCPX slows down mac pro and/or crashes OSX during export.
Hi everyone,
I thought I’d ask here to hopefully get some answers to why FCPX is under performing and why my Mac slows down during export. Sometimes (lately many times) my mac pro just hangs and I have to reboot. Sometimes I have Logic Pro X open too but when I look at activity monitor cpu hardly break a sweat and plenty of RAM left.
I make video tutorials for youtube mostly (I know, not very sexy). This means that I have 3 cameras within the frame all the time. All footage is synced with external audio (AIFF). I’m editing 3 1080p camera footage (GH3) and all footage has been transcoded/optimised.
I use the built in keyer on footage from cam1. I use c2 lock n load on cam 2 and 3. Couple of titles in there, that’s it.The activity monitor shows that cores are 75% idle (why?) and that only 14 GB RAM out of 32GB is used. The mac warms up quite a but so perhaps most is done by the D700’s. But then the question remains: why does my mac slow down when there are so many resources left? Are more of you experiencing that the 2013 mac pro gets slow with fcpx or that OSX starts to slow down a lot during export?
