I understand that it is possible to do true round tripping from FCPX to Resolve and back again, and also that you need to avoid compound clips, filters and speed ramps in FCPX BEFORE exporting to Resolve.

But, what CC and grading and masking effects do you need to avoid in Resolve for the round tripping to work?

WIll masks work? What about any tracking?

As far as I know, any masks or tracking will be baked into rendered color corrected ProRes files that are reference through the XML by FCPX. Resolve does not export tracking data or masks on their own.

Ok thanks. So a render IS required from Resolve to FCPX?

I thought at least basic CC operations were supported via XML export.
