FCPX, Plural eyes, and external multi-track audio
If I record four channels through an external recorder (tascam DR60 for example), when I sync the audio and video (whether it be through plural eyes or FCPX) I would expect to have four distinct channels within the effects browser as well as on the timeline should I choose to detach and expand audio components. THIS IS NOT THE CASE.
Within the channel configuration menu I only see one audio clips. Choosing dual mono and then shutting one channel off works but there are the other two channels in my four channel recording.
What am I missing here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The attached shows a four channel recording (three channels actually as channels 3/4 are combined with that recorder) but as you can see in the effects browser there is only one stereo clip. I have also attached what it looks like when I “expand audio components” ONE STEREO track.

Change the channel configuration to mono. It’s the disclosure triangle in the inspector to the lower right that currently says stereo. FCPX will show whatever you recorded, but defaults to showing as stereo if you don’t specify how you want to see it.

Why would you want to do that? Detach the audio? To access the audio components of a clip you simply ⌥-DOUBLE CLICK a clips audio in the timeline. Other than that: what Noah said. 🙂

Components is actually ctrl+option s isn’t it? Double clicking just expands the audio I thought.

Notice the “⌥” in there. 😉 (or maybe it’s not showing up right and I should have written it out as OPTION?)
