FCPX or a new Mac
I’m in a dilema. I am about to start regularly editing an HD project. I am currently using the following Mac https://everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_pro/specs/mac-pro-quad-2.66-specs.html with 4GB of memory and terabytes of hard drive space. I use FCP 7 running Snow leopard.
When I try and edit HD footage (captured on a DSLR) I get an out of memory messages when using FCP7.
FCPX sort of works (but I don’s like it ) and I can’t update to the latest version anyways as my graphics card isn’t up to scratch. Is it worth:
a) upgrading my graphics card (about £120) and persisting with FCPX (although I can’t upgrade my machine to Lion).
Or
b) save my money upgrading and bite the bullet and get a newer machine. If I did that could I still stick with my beloved FCP 7 and cut HD footage? What spec machine am I looking at?
Thanks
