  • FCPX freezes with snowball and 5 CurrentVersion open, why!

Posted by Alberto Gastesi on August 4, 2011 at 10:41 am

I open FCPX. It loads without problem but after a few seconds, it gets unusable (snowball).

If I right-click on the FCPX icon on the dock, it shows 5 CurrentVersion.fcpevent and other 5 CurrentVersion.fcpproject.

I have to kill the program and reopen it, and always get the same thing, nothing I can do.

    Anyone having same issue?

    Thanx

    What OS are you using?

Did you already create several events/projects?
Did you try to leave it for half an hour and see if it settles down? Maybe one of your existing events or projects is corrupted/broken.

I would make a new directory (e.g. “FCPXfolders” and put the existing “Final Cut Events” and “Final Cut Projects” folder in there. Then FCPX will create new ones and open fresh. See if that helps.

Yes, I have 3 events and 4 projects created before.

I didn´t try to leave it for more than 5 minutes. I just erased the last event I created and all seems to work now. I think it was corrupted, but why?

This event was called “resources” and I imported lot of (100 more or less) short video animation resources, all of them .MOV

Have you just upgraded from Snow Leopard and if you have did you do a clean install of Lion and FCPX?

If not that is most likely your main problem.

FCPX is version 1 software and it definitely acts like it 🙂
