FCPX export to Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) and LPCM Audio
Hi Everyone,
I am using Final Cut Pro 10.0.2, Compressor 4 and OSX Lion 10.7.2
I have created a 4 minute music video for a client. He needs me to create a special file to be uploaded to Tunecore.
According to Tunecore, the video must be in the following format
Codec: Apple Prores 422(HQ) Linear PCM Audio Big or Little Indian, 16 or 24 bit, 48 Khz
So, I fired up FCProX. Then selected Share – Send to Compressor. I selected the Apple Prores 422. I then changed the audio to LPCM 26 bit 48Khz.
The final file was 2.59 Gb and when I pulled up the information it showed:
Codecs: Apple ProRes 422(HQ), Linear PCM, Timecode
I uploaded the file to Tunecore and they emailed that the file was the wrong format. In fact, they sent me a screen capture of the file information and it showed the file was H.264 AAC.
This really confused me. How could they show such different information for the same file?
So I tried another method. I fired up FCProX. Selected Share – Export Using Compressor Settings
I selected the custom setting I created and started the export. A few minutes later, I got a HUGE file that was 38.12 Gb in size. Under the Codecs it listed
Component Y’CbCr 10-bit 4:2:2, Linear PCM, Timecode
Wow…that the file is 16 times larger and doesn’t even show the correct codec!
So, I rendered another file. I fired up FCProX. Selected Share – Export Using Compressor Settings. This time, I selected the native Apple ProRes 422(HQ).
This file is 5.88 Gb and shows the following Codecs
Apple ProRes 422(HQ), Linear PCM, TimecodeSo … which file is correct? Any ideas?
Thanks!
Marlo
