I have not modified any files, but did export an XML, converted via XMLto7 and opened in PremierePro CS6 just to see if I was able to transfer a project. Now FCPX will not relink to some of the files!

If this issue is for real, I cannot use FCPX in my professional work!

You should turn off the “Write XMP ID to Files” on import prefs in PPro.

QTEdit from Digital Rebellion will remove the XMP info and allow you to relink.

    Thanks, will try it.

I thought this issue was resolved. Will I have the same error if I edit an original in After Effects?

By the way, you can turn off the XMP prefs in Pr and Ae.

Yes. It’s a global setting. Turn it off in either and it’s off for both. The digital rebellion fixed it for me. 5 files at a time in the free trial.

Downloaded QT Edit trial, and I can see it does remove Metadata – but files will still not relink!
Maybe I can reimport from card?

You sure you removed the meta? I found the interface a little confusing and if I remember it was a two step process. I’m sure you’ll have to quit and relaunch.

I resolved the problem by reimporting. But imagine if I had formatted the card, then I would have had to do most of the edits again. FCPX should allow me to force relink, like legacy used to offer.
