FCPX – AVCHD how to edit prores proxy and export to prores?
Hi everyone!
I am using FCPX 10.0.0.2 on a late 2008 macbook pro (4gb ram/geforce9600m 512mb/seagate 500gb 7200rpm) with an external WD mybook studio II RAID O configuration connected via FW800 port. I`m gonna start editing a documentary with AVCHD footage(1920x1080p 50fps). Unfortunately the files were not imported with their “private” folder so I have to convert them with clipwrap or toast video converter.I am very confused after I have read the whole forum and some other about the workflow.
-Some people say it does not make any difference converting avchd to prores422 because the data rate of the avchd is not so high and proresLT will be enough. Any comments?
– I did try to import the avchd files after I converted them to prores and I imported them fo fcpx checking both proxy and optimize, but when I playback I get dropped frames if I enable “warn me if there is any dropped frames” checkbox. When I export, no problem. I`ve read that one solution will be edit in proxy and switch to optimize when exporting but in that case both proxy and optimize has to be checked in preferences. And switching will erase render files.. OOuuuffff…..
So I just want to edit in performance optimize mode then I want to export to prores422. What should be my workflow?
