  • FCPX 10.3 Lost Project Issue – Thıs time it really makes no sense

while I was working on a project. I checked something from the web browser then I switch back to fcpx. My entire timeline was gone. I could still see the project in libraries but timeline was emty.

I tried to restore from backups but. I only end up opening empty timelines when I double click on backup files.
Only once I got an eror after I restart my mac. Down below.

I tried to delete ‘CurrentVersion.fcpevent’ from FC backups folder. But there was no file under that name. So I delete last backup file according to time code. I ended up with an empty timeline again.
So I go on deleting 4 or 5 more backups incase last ones are corrupted. still the same.
By the way no matter How many backups I delete. In libraries I see the the date/timecode of the last backup file under project name.
Plus I don’t know if it’s connected, all my last 10 backup files are in same file size 261KB
There are older backups with different file sizes but they don’t work as well.

Does any one care to help please?
It is the project that I spend 20 days on. Very sad.

The most recent version of FCP x is 10.2.2

It is best to keep backups of project files or run regular backups to internal drives. The best way to avoid these kinds of problems is to keep multiple copies on different forms of media.

It’s a drag, but you only have to get burned once, with important client work on the line to understand that the best way to eliminate risk is to minimise it.

The way to do that is to be extra vigilant in your backup scheme.

A very simple and quick “backup” is:
    to :right click”
    “Save as snapshot”

    I do this a lot.

    FCP X 10.2.2 – user since FCP 1.25
iMac mid 2011, MBA mid 2012
    HVX-200, Shure wireless mic
