  • FCPX 10.03 crashing on project launch

Posted by Ted Irving on February 11, 2012 at 7:27 pm

Just bought FCP 10.03. I”ve been editing on 10.0 with no issues. My OS is 10.7.2. Each time I launch a project in FCPX it quits. I’m going to work on drive permissions, since I saw this as a possible issue, but I”m wondering if I should install Lion 10.7.3 and will that remove the quitting issue?

Move the Events and Project out of the Final Cut Events and Final Cut Pro Projects folders, then launch FCPX.

    Does it launch?

Could be the old “Restoring the Window Layout”-hang-cuz-I-used-a-custom-keyboard-crash.

To Jeremy: Move the Events and Project out of the Final Cut Events and Final Cut Pro Projects folders, then launch FCPX.

Hey Jeremy, I moved the projects and events folders and FCPX 10.03 loaded fine. In terms of the 10.7.3 hell I mentioned, after installing 10.7.3 I got the spinning wheel of death on load up with the grey apple logo. Apparently this is one of the errors when updating and installing via the net. So, I followed some steps provided by other sites and downloaded the 10.7.3 combined install and I’m all good now. Have to thank having my time machine backup. As far as 10.7.3 and FXP X 10.03, I can now get into it fine, but once you click a timeline to open it, CRASH!! LOL I feel like I’m back in the 90’s with mac and windows with all the risky updates.
