    Hi,

I’m sending an AAF to AVID editor. Does selecting Embed Audio into AAF create a copy of media? The wording on other selections makes it clear it creates media but not so for embed. I need to send seq to AVID and he only needs the audio in the sequence layout.

    Thanks

Yes. Embed means the audio media is created along with the composition file as one big file. This is how OMFs can also work. You will find it makes a big file becasue of the media. Make one without and it will be tiny. The difference is the media.

At the other end the media is unpacked when the AAF is loaded.

If you make an audio AAF for ProTools…it will embed the audio. If you use Automatic Duck Pro Export AAF for Avid…meaning video and audio, it will create new media files…it won’t embed the audio. It will make OMF audio files. And then you will need to place the MXF and OMF files into a proper Avid media file structure.
