  • FCP7 XML Round-trip – many clips off by one frame

I’m having a weird issue where many of my clips are coming back into FCP offset by a single frame. Its not a huge deal, because I have handles and I can slip them, but in longer shows it’s a pain to have to check every single clip to make sure it hasn’t slipped. It looks like the issue is actually happening on the import of the XML to Resolve. Resolve see’s the clip’s starting timecode as one frame earlier then it actually is.

I’m working with FCP 7.0.3 and Resolve 8.2.2 on OSX 10.7.4

My project is 1920x1080i29.97 ProRes HQ and I’m using XML Version 5

Anyone know what might cause this?

I do not know if this is related but yesterday I have cut up a baked media using scene cut detector in 8.2.2 and roughly half of the clips on the resulting timeline came in 1 frame off.

How do you see that ?

I have usually seen this with mp4 ref mov in conform page.

I have assumed it is mp4 problem.

Its possible its an FCP problem, not a resolve problem. I have had this problem with other XML workflows from FCP before. In my experience, the culprit was FCP messing up the import. To test, try importing the original XML you generated from FCP. See if it screws up the import.
