  • FCP7 settings for 1080p and 720p in the same project

    Hi guys

I’m pretty new to all this stuff. I shot a bunch of video on my goproHD camera in 1080p 25fps and 720p 50fps all PAL.

    I’ve converted them in mpegstreamclip.

    1080p..
    Pro Res 422
    high quality
    unchecked deinterlace
    1980×1080(unscaled)

what settings would work on the 720p so i could use both formats in the same project.

Just wondering if that workflow was ok and i’m going in the right direction.

Sorry if this has been discussed before for really mind the right answer
    Cheers
    Ben

I recently had to do this and was told my two options (in my situation) were to either edit all in a 720p sequence, or in a 1080p sequence and allow the frame to be stretched- it depends on what your outputting for and what equipment you have at your disposal, which in my case was virtually nothing. I hope someone can answer with more authority on the subject for you 🙂

    Hi Ben,
As long as you have no constrains on your delivery format, put everything on a 720p25 (NO p50), and edit.
Before exporting, set “Render Motion Effects: BEST”.
Next time, for a similar job, you can save time downscaling the 1080 stuff to 720 while you are transcoding in MPGStreamclip.
