Posted by Brian Foote on August 1, 2011 at 3:13 pm

So im opening a FCP7 file in FCP7 and i get the following:

This project is unreadable or may be too new for this version of Final Cut.”

    Strange….ITS THE SAME DAMN VERSION!!

It loads to about 46% and then i spits this message out to me.

Anyone have some insight? The FCP file is 24mb.

Any help would be much appreciated.

It’s corrupt I’ll bet… got an autosave or can you get it or have it emailedl (after compressing the file first) it from somewhere?

I’ve had the same problem, but it is not consistent. Some times it opens, some times not. It does not seem corrupted, and it happens on different project files. I haven’t found any explanation either, so if you find something, please call out.

    Hi,

    I’m having the same problem:
This project is unreadable or may be too new for this version of Final Cut

Are you able to look at my project file? I have an older version that you can compare it to, and no I do not have an auto save version. stupid me forgot to turn it back on after working on another project that kept crashing when the autosave was turned on.

    Thanks,
    Maja
