October 14, 2011 at 12:50 pmIf you have Premiere Pro, it actually plays it pretty well. As does FCPX.
I just went through this with a large Avid project. Just needed to screen and make selects, as there’s were many hours recorded. couldn’t transcode it all. FCP 7 and Avid (via AMA) couldn’t do it without instability.
A 64 bit app does the trick.

October 14, 2011 at 6:10 pmMultiple reasons whey go get this error and you look to have managed to have a lot of them. Is this your first FCP project? Look at it like a balance, you need equal things on both sides to optimize your workflow.
Still images are too large, the max image size you can bring into FCP is 4,000 x 4,000 but we’ve had issues with still over 2,000 x 2,000.
Why are you letterboxing your HD Ninja-ness into a DV/DVCPRO sequence? Match your sequence settings with your footage for starters. You won’t have to render everything and if you need to deliver is some SD variant you out put it that way.
Use MPEGStreamclip to convert your footage to ProRes 422 and tell it to make the audio 16/48kHz (as mentioned). Match your sequence settings to your new ProRes footage.
