There’s your answer Melanie. It’s pilot error.
You’re not changing 4-track output setting in the proper place. There are two places to do it, one in Sequence>>Settings for a single seq., and one in either User or System Preferences that’s global. If your seq, is set improperly it overrides the global setting, which really only works for new seqs.

October 22, 2010 at 6:56 pmDavid…we changed to four-track output in both places you suggested and got the video to export with the desired four tracks, HOWEVER, the resulting file was even smaller than before! We did get an error message after setting FCP to export four tracks that read:
The current audio device does not support the number of outputs set in the Sequence Settings Audio Outputs tab. Unsupported outputs will not be heard during playback on this machine unless downmixed to Stereo.
Tried an export once with downmixing, once without and that yielded the same results each time (a file size even smaller than before). Any help would be, as it has been thus far, greatly appreciated.

That seems to indicate that you didn’t also set the output of trks 3&4 to go to channels 3&4. Right click on the panel at the left by the track numbers and set the Audio Outputs of both trks. 3&4 appropriately to 3&4.

Somehow while editing I placed FCP into a Cinema mode setting.
When I click anywhere on the interface of the timeline, browser or viewer the screen goes to Cinema mode with a single clip in the middle of the screen. When I click on the desktop, the FCP interface reappears
When I click on the FCP interface, the Cinema mode reappears. How do I exit Cinema mode, so I can continue to edit? Adjust preference settings?
Please advise, Thank U,
Stevan
