  • FCP7 Compatible Video Logging Software

I’m looking for a solid program that will allow me to log footage without having to open FCP7. I need it to be transferable to FCP7 after the logging is done of course. I am working on a documentary series and need the logging process to be done on its own. Thank you for any suggestions.

Well, there’s the discontinued Final Cut Server. But that’s about it. Either FCP or Server. There is no “Avid MediaLog” style thing for FCP that I know of.

Hmmm…what TYPE of footage? Tapeless? There are several external converters for many formats, but the most you can do is convert the footage and change the clip names. Can’t really add much more metadata than that. And the danger of doing it this way is if the drive dies and the footage is lost, you cannot simply batch capture in FCP to get it back…because it didn’t do the initial import, it can’t track the footage source properly.

Best to get another station running FCP.
