  • FCP7- 4 channel export to PAL Quicktime

I am posting a project on FCP 7 and am required by client to deliver Quicktimes of my HD and SD sequences in both NTSC and PAL. Audio requirement for all is 4 channel 1/2-stereo 3-dialogue 4-M&E.
No problems on the NTSC Quicktimes, but cannot get the system to create a PAL QT with more than 2 channels. The NTSC QTs were done in regular Export to Quicktime movie, but I have to use Export Quicktime movie conversion to do the PALs. Client says it can be done (but can’t say how!), I’m out of ideas and time… would anyone have a suggestion? My fallback at this point is to simply export two PAL versions each of the HD and SD with two channels of audio at a time.

Export to Compressor. From there you can set the PAL audio tracks to be other than the 2 tracks that FCP exports.

You can do it from FCP with the help of the free JES Deinterlacer. Do a normal Quicktime export, but first assign a stereotrack and two monotracks to the sequence in the sequence settings. In the timelime point the tracks to the according audiotracks. Then export and use Jes Deinterlacer afterwards for the conversion to PAL. JesDeinterlacer will simply copy the original audiotracks and puts them into the new PAL-clip. I think JES Deinterlacer does a pretty good job with conversions in both directions.
