June 8, 2007 at 4:43 amThat’s it, weird files, ripped off a DVD that was 704×480 and it made those settings for the TL. Once I changed the TL settings to a standard 720×486 uncompressed RT options shows up and of course now it will need final rendering but preview is fine.

June 8, 2007 at 2:45 pmYou need to be using sequence settings that support RT playback withing FCP. You can set the sequence settings to whatever you want and always get RT performance.
It seems that this is the double edge of the sword that is automatic sequence settings in FCP 6.

June 9, 2007 at 3:32 amyeah, once David got me looking it was easy to solve, before the red line would have started my search.
Personally this is the best feature of the upgrade to FCP I love it! Now I know one way it can get you and will watch out for it.
